Zoey's Last Night

Looks like this is going to be Zoey's last night with me.

She has been adopted and the exchange should be tomorrow night.

We have been through a lot together...mange, Parvo, a cold, now itching.
She has brought so much joy to my life...and full of life she is.

I will miss...
Her chewing all my household things.
Playing tug o' war with her using a t-shirt or towel.
Chasing after her in the yard when she chewed on her favorite toy.
Listening to her snore at night.
Watching her sleep so peacefully.
Seeing her happy and loving life.
Seeing her play with Sally and seeing Sally enjoy life because of Zo's ability to allow other dogs to let their guard down.
Walking her.
Her stubbornness and strong will.

...basically everything!

House-Sittin'

.
How do you get three dogs to cohabitate when one of them likes to eat the others...so they say?

Good question!

Calls for improvisation, adaption, creativity.

Let's go for it!

George & I on the way to the house.
The great thing about being a drummer
(few understand this) is being able to
drive w/one leg, hold the leash w/another,
hold the camera w/the other,
take a picture that captures what you're going after,
and driving at the same time.

Made it OK!
The house and place to be!

George slept last night in the driveway.
I set his doghouse up & washed all the
towels and bedding!

I tied George to the outside of the fence
making sure the rope was very secure.
Any dog walking by is going to get George up
and running. He is looking out at the street here.

This is where the rope ends.
That's all you're going to get Georgie Boy

Zoey & Sally basically get the entire backyard.
They don't know it yet, but they are both
going to get baths!
George got one yesterday.

Yes...I made sure I scrubbed the tub

Sally's favorite place to hang out.

The neighbor's dog behind the house.
Baaaad dog.
HUGE Doberman that has a bark only
one willing to endure torture can listen to.
It is a howling screech that caused all the
neighbors to position a formal complaint.

The owners are morons!
They have never walked the dog...it sits all day long.

Yeah...you really need a raging guard dog
in this neighborhood.

Zo Behind Bars

Zo no like being behind bars!

King George doesn't mind at all

George enjoying some indoor time in his favorite
place on the kitchen floor while Zoey is outside

George's roof for his run!

I found twelve 8ft (2 x 4's) walking the dogs
in a side alley and put a note w/my phone #
on the front door of the owner's house.

They called!
Come pick the wood up!

Only A Matter of Time...

.
...Before Zoey gets adopted.

Yesterday someone pulled back because they wanted an older dog, but the list for her keeps growing. Tomorrow a family will look at her.

Who can resist...

My little Zoey...

UPDATE: Zoey Might Have Found a Home
Might...because there's nothing certain, but it looks strong. She just came home. It's a family with small kids and a cat. I'm not thrilled she will be crated four hours a day in the house while nobody is home...but after the puppy in her comes out, she will be OK and not chew everything.

I Hate Flies!

.
After a Google search on how to kill flies,
some folks said they had success
by filling baggies with water and
hanging them the yard where the flies are.

I'm not very patient...

Back to the Internet

Many people seemed to swear by a product called,
Rescue. The local OSH had them so I took a ride.

Impulsively, I cut the bottom of the bag.
Ooops!
You cut along the top filler.
I had to create my on using the trap
and repellent powder.

I'm glad I bought that bag of family size licorice!

Ahhh, my first sucker!

After figuring it out, I then put another trap over
George's dog run. I found an old metal pole to lay
across the top so I could have the trap hang right over
the center of the pen.

George got cranky with Zoey when I was
doing this! First time he snapped at her.
Not a pretty picture.

I really look forward to posting pics
with this thing full of flies!

Then again...there are probably more flies,
then more flies...

Seeing them floating in the smelly repellent solution
will at least bring some summer relief.

UPDATE: IT WORKS!!!

Ahhhhhh!!!

Workin' For A Living

.
I used to give the dogs a snack out of the bag. Not anymore

Zoey has to work for her snacks like chicken jerky or small scraps

I hid a jerky bit in a leftover frozen pizza box
(Trader Joe's Pizza Parlanno rules!)

She's come a long way with commands.
I can now point to the area and she will start searching

She gets all amped up and sniffs so loud
I can hear her from the other room

This took her a long time to find.
She gave up twice, but after
I redirected her she went at it

Carry the box outside for closer inspection (actually annihilation)
she tore it apart and finally got the reward

Something to do in a dog's life!

Maximus Found A Home!

.
Maximus was rescued from the North Central shelter in Los Angeles. It is with great joy that I announce that Maximus has found his forever home!! He was adopted by a nice family and he has two kitty siblings.

This was a collaborative effort with a team of people all pitching in.

I met Maximus at the West Hollywood adoption fair a few weeks ago. This was held in front of the Whole Foods store on a Saturday afternoon. I will always remember Maximum because I was sitting with him when this stunning European supermodel sat next to me to eat her salad. We talked about dogs. drooool

Sally's Time to Shine

Zoey is the cute little puppy...though she's really growing. Hard to believe she was so fragile and bone thin just two weeks ago.

Sally has humbly batted second in the lineup. So she needs a little time to shine.

She is VERY hard to photograph. I can't stand too close to her to get a natural shot. Being so timid, she will always be in motion. Even with the zoom on, it's still difficult to catch a good shot.

Zoey was really amped up on this particular day. I took them both for a walk and Zo was mounting Sally continually. I guess females do that as well. Same when I brought them home in the yard. She just would not leave Sally alone...and paid for it twice!

She has a very graceful look

Here comes Zoey before she got faced

Look at those eyes...she's about had it!

Sally, acting like the big sister is patient...but for how long?

This WAS the final straw...she can take the attacks,
the mounting, the jumping...but NOT any biting!

Sally just gave Zoey a little payback with a quick bite to the nose.
Zo yelped for the second time and backed off.
She'll learn!
