WILDFIRES!!!

This is a day of wildfires...but the wild is becoming domesticated!

Usually the word wild refers to fires burning out of control in the mountain areas. Today there was a dramatic shift if the winds that blew the flames close to home.

As I type, a fire broke out an hour ago just north of Porter Ranch above Northridge (remember the '94 quake?) ...same area.

Aerial firefighters are dropping water directly flying over the house.

UPDATE 9AM Tuesday

Sesnon fire doubled in size overnight, burning 10,000acres with ZERO percent containment. The severe winds did not arrive like predicted at 70mph. This is the good news. The winds are to peak until noon today, so there is three more hours before the red alert is over.

Many people evacuated last night about three miles away. It is unlikely the fires will travel south to my home. If it did, it would have to wipe out hundreds if not a thousand homes. For those not living in Los Angeles, it might be hard to imagine so many homes packed together like sardines with no break for 100's of miles. Basically from Castaic to San Diego is one giant city spread out.

The fire is MUCH easier to control when it hits homes over the rolling hills.

Gov Arnold is doing a press conference soon.

It is ALL because of the Santa Ana Winds

UPDATE 3PM Monday

This is absolutely amazing.
The fire went from somewhat controlled to out of control in minutes.
The smoke escalated 80% and now flames are breaking through.
This is getting VERY bad for homes now.
Three homes have burned so far.

Here's a view from my home at 11:30AM PST;

Palm trees taking a wind blast

Report is all night until noon Tuesday
before winds die down

These tree threw off all their leaves,
about 6' each in my yard December 24th
with 90 mph winds

There were 120 leaves that littered my yard,
a power line broke and started a small fire in
my backyard, my storage shed blew off
the ground and I held it with one hand from
blowing over my neighbor's fence.

The smell of fire is now constant with no break
